Lived most of the day through the eye of a visiting friend from Japan, who showed up out of the blue and felt the good fortune of seeing reams of old friends, Edmonton looking at its best, feeling the freedom of whimsy, absorbing some of the most real music you'll ever find - you don't get better than Steve Earle - and the aurora borealis in full effect to boot.
