Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory...

Did anyone else see that Pollstar is listing The Blind Boys of Alabama for the Folk Fest? There is going to be a hell of a gospel session on Sunday!

The time is nigh folkies - tix go on sale June 1 at 9:00am! Get those tarps ready...

And I know I swore I'd never go to the Calgary Fest again, but they have an amazing lineup and I am once again sorely tempted. (Broken Social Scene, Bedouin Sound Clash and Macy Gray - tempting, no?)

Are You Kidding Me?

Proving once again that they run a sub-standard newspaper, the Globe and Mail ran an article a couple of weeks ago where they identified the Calgary Folk Festival as one of the Seven Wonders of the Musical World. No offence to the CFF, but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, knows that it is Edmonton's weaker sister. I have actually stopped attending the CFF because the ambience is so much worse than in Edmonton. To put it nicely, most of the people there are rude posers.

Now Austin, Austin is a musical wonder...

The Year of the "Brothers"

You read it here first and the official Folk Fest page has (FINALLY) confirmed it: the Holmes Brothers and the Neville Brothers will be at this year's Fest. Unfortunately so will Bruce "kill the mood" Cockburn... Of course, I think I enjoy railing about the duds at the Fest almost as much as I enjoy listening to the greats!

Time Without Consequence

Looks like one of my faves from last year's fest is finally releasing his new album! Alexi Murdoch's website says that the debut record will hit the streets (at least in the States) June 6 (06.06.06).

Hope it's as good as the EP!

Follk Fest Poster

There is a new image up on the Folk Fest page. I assume it will be the cover of the programme. It's fantastic. Really captures the spirit and vibe of the Festival. Here it is!
